Are You Frequently Losing Your Electronic Files?

12/22/2015

little boy scratching his head looking at digital camera screen
I went to create an image for a video thumbnail and lo and behold, the video file was missing from where it should be. For a moment I was in complete panic because I also did not see another video's file either. All of my source files were gone!

Fortunately I am just an idiot so all is right with the world. Both files were simply misnamed. Apparently somewhere between concept and finished product I had changed the titles. (This happens more than I would care to admit.)

I am the queen of electronic folders (It makes my friends dizzy when I start opening files), so there was only one main folder the two files could hide in and I found them by process of elimination.

If you do not want to search aimlessly for your electronic files, be sure to start creating subfolders of like items and actually put your files in the proper folders. It is also a good idea to occasionally purge your folders of outdated files. (I rarely do this; I am an electronic packrat. So this is a “do as I say, not as I do” suggestion.)

Putting systems in place to track your business progress (or lack thereof) is necessary to keep your business healthy. You can start with your paper files, electronic files, finances or whatever motivates you the most to get started. Start today, your business will thank you.

Until next time…

Have a great day,
Susanne
