One of the reasons that we lack confidence is because we focus on our weaknesses. Instead of focusing on your weakness, acknowledge and embrace your strengths. You have so many skills, strengths, experiences and knowledge. That is where you have the most to offer.
I know what I am capable of and I am very secure in my ability to do it. That does not mean I do not know my limitations. There are so many areas that are out of my skill set the list would go from here to China; but I do not pretend to be knowledgeable in those areas. I am not a fine artist; and as much as I love dragons I can not imagine me ever drawing one I would want to look at. I am okay with that and I focus my energy where it will do the most good.
What is it you do really well? Make a list. Write down everything you are good at, you have accomplished and you feel proud of. Add to this list as you accomplish more. If necessary, keep the list with you and pull it out when you start to lose confidence.
We all have parts of our business that we are not so great at. Why are you still doing those tasks? Are you horrible with numbers? Learn the basics of what you need to know to make good financial decisions and hire a bookkeeper to record your transactions and give you simple reports.
Are your management skills subpar? Hire a business or office manager that you can work well with and let them handle it when Jimmy is late or that shipment never came in. Does social media and email marketing give you a headache? Hire me!
Perhaps you can not even convince someone standing right in front of you with cash in hand to buy you product. Hire a sales person. “But, Susanne… I do not even pay myself yet, how can I pay someone else?” Start your salesperson commission only. Will you have to pay a pretty large commission? Yes, however would you rather have half of $2,000 per week or all of $500 per week?
Spend your time doing what you do brilliantly and your confidence will begin to radiate.
Until next time…
Have a great day,
Susanne
